Methodology

sboxindex estimates what s&box items are actually worth, not just what sellers are asking. This page explains what each figure on the site means. The models behind them, including their exact rules, settings and safeguards, are proprietary and refined over time.

1. Market Cap

The market cap is the estimated total value of every s&box item that can no longer be bought from the store: limited items that have left the store, and items handed out as drops. Each item’s estimated price is multiplied by the number in existence, and the results are added together.

Items still for sale in the store are not counted, because their supply is still growing and the store price caps their value. A limited item joins the market cap automatically once it leaves the store. Drop items count from the start, and their supply grows as more are dropped.

2. Item Prices

In a thin market, the lowest listing is often set by a single seller and can be far from what buyers actually pay. Our estimate combines recent completed sales with the live order book, leaning on whichever is more reliable for that item. It always sits between the highest buy order and the lowest listing.

3. Manipulation Safeguards

Low-volume markets are easy to push around, so our pricing is built to resist it. One-sided buying sprees, short-lived spikes and other unusual activity have limited effect on the estimate, and items showing unusual activity carry a warning on their page.

4. Liquidity Score

The liquidity score, from 0 to 100, shows how easily an item can be bought or sold right now. It reflects recent trading activity and the strength of the item’s order book, and steady trading counts for more than a sudden burst.

ScoreWhat it means
60 – 100Sells easily, usually close to the listed price
40 – 59Sells with some patience or a discount
0 – 39Hard to sell; prices are less reliable

5. Updates

Prices, sales, order books and store status refresh automatically throughout the day, and new items are picked up as soon as they appear.

6. Limitations

All figures are estimates calculated from public market data. They can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, especially for items that rarely trade. Nothing on sboxindex is financial advice. See our Terms of Service for more.
